Find missing CSV values

See which selected columns are blank, then remove those rows only if you choose to. NovaToolora does not fill in a missing email, name, or any other value.

CSV or Excel

Choose columns that must have a value.

Instructions

  1. Drop a .csv file. Missing-value removal is already selected.
  2. Choose the columns that must contain a value. A row is removed only when one of those columns is blank or whitespace.
  3. Leave N/A and null in place unless you turn on the placeholder option. Zero and false always stay.
  4. Preview the row numbers, apply, and download. Undo returns the removed rows.

Example

The email column is the one that must have a value.

email,name
ada@example.com,Ada
,Bea
0,Cy
N/A,Dee

Bea’s row is removed because the email cell is empty. Cy stays because 0 is a value. Dee stays unless you also treat N/A as missing.

What counts as missing

An empty cell and a cell that contains only spaces are missing. The number 0, the word false, and an identifier such as 001 are values.

N/A, NA, and null are ordinary text until you enable the placeholder option. That option is case-insensitive and does not treat other words as missing.

Counts can overlap

A blank cell is also counted in the column statistics. Removing the row does not change the fact that the cell was blank before you applied the preview.

The cleaning summary lists how many rows were removed. It does not copy the cell text into the summary file.

Limitations

  • The check uses the columns you select. It does not guess which column is required.
  • No replacement value is written into a blank cell.
  • A row with a value in every selected column stays, even if another column is blank.
  • CSV and .xlsx up to 32 MB. The download is CSV. Save .xls as .xlsx first.
